On October 2, speaking at the Tatarstan-Japan business forum in Tokyo, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan focuses on the development of cooperation with Japan as part of Russian-Japanese relations.
Welcoming representatives of the Japanese business interested in developing relations with Tatarstan, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to the Japanese ROTOBO organization for assisting in holding the business forum.
Minnikhanov noted the high level of cooperation with Japan. He reminded that he participated in the Trade and Industrial Dialogue: Russia-Japan business mission held in Tokyo in 2016, a delegation of Japanese companies led by Special Adviser to the Japanese Prime Minister Eiichi Hasegawa visited Tatarstan in August 2016, a meeting of the Russian-Japanese advisory council for the modernization of the Russian economy was held in the capital of the republic in September 2016.
Tatarstan President said that he is sure that the opening of a representative office of the republic in Japan in the near future will foster further development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Japan.
Tatarstan is one of the leading and industrially developed regions of the country, Minnikhanov continued. For the third year in a row, the republic has topped the national rating of the investment climate in Russia.
Small and medium-sized businesses, creative industries are actively developing, industrial parks, technology parks and engineering centers have been created in the republic. Work is underway to develop nano- and biotechnology, robotics. Research centres and universities of Tatarstan have high ratings.
Tatarstan will continue implementing such large-scale investment projects as the construction of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway, the Sviyazhsky interregional multimodal logistics centrr, the Europe-Western China highway that passes through the territory of Tatarstan in the next few years.
Minnikhanov also noted the high potential for development of cooperation in the sphere of culture, education, science and tourism. According to him, large-scale sporting events open up good opportunities for expanding international contacts. Kazan will host the FINA World Cup in 2018, the WorldSkills Championship in 2019, he added.
Summing up, Minnikhanov wished participants of the business forum success and expressed his readiness to expand cooperation with business representatives of Japan.
Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina told the forum participants about the investment potential of the republic. She wished them success and invited Japanese businessmen to cooperate.
Minister of Information and Communication of the republic Roman Shayhutdinov made a presentation of the information and technological potential of Tatarstan, the city of Innopolis and the Innopolis Special Economic Zone.
The tourism potential of Tatarstan was presented by Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on tourism Sergey Ivanov.
At the end of the forum, Minnikhanov and CEO of Yokogawa Electric Takashi Nishijima signed a protocol of intent between the republic and the Yokogawa Electric company.
Also, in the presence of Minnikhanov, an agreement of intent was signed between Miyako Capital Ltd and the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan.
