Budget of Tatarstan will increase expences on education

Today, Tatarstan State Council’s Culture, Science and Education Committee held a public discussion of the republic’s draft budget for 2014 and the planning period of 2015-2016.

The meeting involved public representatives – culture and science workers, media and creative unions’ representatives.

Radik Gayzatullin, Minister of Finance, reported on the main points of the draft budget. Education is due to receive 34.6 billion rubles in 2014, 38.8 – in 2015 and 43.0 – in 2016.

Culture and cinema are to be assigned 3.9 billion rubles in 2014, 3.7 – in 2015, 2.3 – in 2016. Gayzatullin stated that the City Isle of Sviyazhsk and ancient Bolgar will be financed in 2015 due Tatarstan President’s efforts. Media will receive 1.2 billion rubles in 2014, 1.1 billion rubles in 2015 and in 2016.

The income part of Tatarstan’s budget will amount to 138.7 billion rubles in 2014, whilst the expenses will equate to 145.0 billion rubles, resulting in 5.4 billion rubles of budget deficit.

The public representatives inquired about several issues, in particular, the state scientific award and creative unions’ financing.

Summarizing the meeting, Razil Valeyev, Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council’s Culture, Science and Education Committee, stated that the committee will start listing the amendments after the draft budget approval in the first reading, and everyone can contribute their suggestions. Members of the committee supported approving the draft budget in the first reading. The parliamentary meeting takes place in the 24th of October.
