Rustam Minnikhanov hands in State Prizes named after Gabdulla Tukay

On August 30, the Republic Day, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in State Prizes named after Gabdulla Tukay. Chairman of State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in the event.

In 2014, the State Prizes named after Gabdulla Tukay were given to the writer Vakhit Imamov for his two- volume historical novel “Utly dala” (“Flame-coloured steppe”) and Vladimir Popov for the series of calligraphic compositions.

Welcoming the audience, Rustam Minnikhanov said that this year is very special.

“A lot of important events took place on the threshold of this holiday. 2014 is the Year of Culture in Russia, Kazan is the capital of Turkic world, Bolgar was recently included in UNESCO World Heritage List. Today we have visited many objects, and we are finishing the holiday by presentation of our main award in the sphere of culture,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and handed in the awards to laureates.
