Rustam Minnikhanov: Trip to Davos is very useful

24 January 2015, Saturday
On January 24, speaking at the weekly meeting with the heads of Tatarstan Ministries and Agencies, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the participation of the Russian delegation in the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2015 was very useful, taking into consideration the current economic and political situation.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, the heads of governments, politicians and businessmen discussed different issues within the framework of the forum. “The most complicated question, which is unanswerable at the moment, is oil prices”, he added.
Another issue concerns the Ukrainian events to be actively discussed during the forum. “Being one-sided, these discussions reflect the US and Europe positions on the problem. Therefore it was very crucial that both Russia's Deputy Prime Ministers Igor Shuvalov and Arkady Dvorkovich tried to convey Russian government’s position on the issue”, Tatarstan President remarked.
It should be noted that the complex political situation hasn’t influenced the relationship with Western businessmen who are still willing to continue cooperation with Russia. Tatarstan even agreed to further collaboration.
During the business breakfast of Sberbank of Russia anti-crisis measures were discussed. Rustam Minnikhanov told: “In spite of the fact that the situation is difficult, it is greatly exaggerated. We need well-timed and effective actions of federal, regional and municipal authorities. It is essential to preserve the workplaces, stability, and regain the trust of the people in the ruble. Another important problem to be solved is lending.  Our republic should take an active part in working out anti-crisis measures”.
