Rustam Minnikhanov meets delegation of Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Mayor of Tabriz Sadeg Najafi

On February 3, at Tatarstan Government House, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by the Mayor of Tabriz Mr. Sadeg Najafi.

"I sincerely welcome the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the capital of Tatarstan within the framework of the Days of Culture of Tabriz in Kazan,” Minnikhanov said. He also congratulated the Iranian colleagues on the upcoming holiday - the 36th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Minnikhanov said that Iran and Tatarstan are actively cooperating within the Iranian-Russian relations, with Consulate General of Iran and Consul General of Iran in Kazan Rasul Bagernezhad Shayan playing a major role in this. According to Tatarstan President, Mr. Shayan promotes relation between Tatarstan and Iran in various fields.

“I have been to Iran many times and our Iranian colleagues often pay official, business, diplomatic visits to Tatarstan,” he continued. 

Minnikhanov thanked the delegation for the interest in Tatarstan, and said that the delegation of Tatarstan is also planning to visit Iran in March 2015.

During the meeting, Tatarstan President also briefed the Iranian colleagues on the social and economic development of the republic as one of the dynamically developing regions of the Russian Federation.
