On September 15, at the Kazan Kremlin, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Slovenia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Karl Erjavec signed a memorandum on cooperation in economy, research, technology, environmental protection, culture, and other fields between the government of Tatarstan and government of Republic of Slovenia.

Karl Erjavec told reporters that relations between Russia and Slovenia are quite friendly, and the signing of memorandum was one more piece of evidence to prove it, at the same time offering opportunities to increase the cooperation.

“Generally speaking, we want to step up cooperation with Russian regions, and Slovenia companies see great possibilities in Tatarstan. We see prospects for cooperation in the fields of information technologies, healthcare and agriculture. We would like to use these possibilities,” he said.

Minnikhanov noted Tatarstan is one of Russia’s leading regions that should demonstrate prospects for cooperation between the countries. “The potential for partnership between Russia and Slovenia is great. Tatarstan and Slovenia have long-standing good relations. The fact that the Russian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, research and technology cooperation meets in Kazan is a momentous event,” he concluded.

Russian Minister of Mass Communications Nikolai Nikiforov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, and other officials took part in the ceremony.
