On November 2, during his working trip to Havana, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov discussed issues of cooperation between Cuba and Tatarstan with Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Cuba) Ricardo Cabrisas.
Ildar Khalikov thanked the Cuban Embassy in Russia and Russian Embassy in Cuba for their help in organization of the current visit, and conveyed greetings to Ricardo Cabrisas from Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. He added that Cuba is an important economic partner of the republic, and Russian President Vladimir Putin set the task to expand cooperation with Cuba.
“I am sure that this visit to Havana and participation in FIHAV 2015 will give impetus to further cooperation and establishment of new contacts between Tatarstan and Cuba,” Khalikov said. He noted that a lot of business meetings and negotiations were held within the framework of Russia-Cuba relations last year.
Further cooperation in expanding supplies of KAMAZ and Kazan helicopters products, organization of tyre production and reconstruction of two tyre manufacturing plants in Cuba, cooperation in IT, pharmaceutical and medical industries, and development of tourist potential.
Ricardo Cabrisas informed that the Government of Cuba is interested in studying and using best practices of Tatarstan as a Russian region in IT sector, including the project “Electronic Government”.
