19 May 2016, Thursday

On May 19, at his meeting with trade union activists of the republic,  Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said that the state of the market of agricultural products and foodstuff is monitored in the republic.

"The prices for basic foodstuff are under strict control in the republic," he said.

“We can see that inflation has slowed down. In April of the current year the rise in prices amounted to 102.1 per cent to the level in December last year," Khalikov went on to say.

According to him, an impetus to import substitution has been given in the field of agriculture. Only in 2015 cheese production increased by half, sugar by 28 per cent %, pasta by 18 per cent, poultry by 10 per cent, oils and refined fats by 14 per cent in the republic.

"In general, this insures food security and provides the possibility to control prices for basic food products," Khalikov concluded.
