On June 2, according results of the national rating of the investment climate in Russia's regions announced during the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Tatarstan was acknowledged as the leader of the rating. The event was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
The rating covered all Russian regions, which were evaluated based on 44 main and 33 additional indicators and in four key areas. About 400,000 businessmen took part in surveys.
Director General of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Svetlana Chupsheva said about key conclusions that were made based on the rating results. In general, the investment climate in the country has become better. The average rating index increased by 5.3 points. All regions of top twenty of the new rating showed an increase in the integral index, regardless of the place occupied. Positive changes occurred in three out of four areas of assessment of the effectiveness of the region: regulatory environment, infrastructure and resources, support of small businesses.
Then, the results of the rating were announced. The Republic of Tatarstan has once again kept its leading position, the second place was taken by the Chuvash Republic, and the third by Moscow.
"It is a great honour for us to be on this list. This work is very useful. After each rating, we analyze in detail what reserves we have and where we perform poorly. In particular, now we need to analyze the work of our supervisory bodies. Last year the republic carried out active work on educational business programmes. Much attention was paid to the development of the existing infrastructure. Today we are closely interacting with businesses at the municipal level. We have more work to do and we will continue to do our best," Minnikhanov said.
