Rustam Minnikhanov at August meeting of teachers: Education is a priority sphere in development of the republic

On August 15, at a plenary session of August meeting of educational and scientific workers “Ethno-cultural and educational potential of educational system of the Republic of Tatarstan” in Muslyumovo region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Education is a priority sphere in development of the republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov briefly presented the figures of economic development of the republic by results of 2016. He told that Tatarstan leads the polls of investment and innovative development of territorial entities of the Russian Federation, and ranks third by fixed investments and volume of agricultural products in Russia. Also, it ranks fifth by the volume of shipped products and rendered services, and volume of construction works.

Minnikhanov said that major efforts were taken in the sphere of education last year. In particular, a large-scale programme on the creation of spaces at schools is being implemented in the republic. Construction of kindergartens is underway; seven preschool institutions are opening in 2017.

According to Minnikhanov, consolidated budget of the educational sector increased by a quarter and made 80 bln roubles.  Besides, the decision on increasing the funding of kindergartens by 1,5 bln roubles, and schools by 800 mln roubles was made.
