On September 14, in the Kazan City Hall, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the first part of the second meeting of the Russian-Chinese subcommittee on cooperation in the field of industry chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov and Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China Miao Wei.

Manturov welcomed his Chinese colleagues in Kazan and thanked Minnikhanov for the high level of organization of the event.

We attach particular attention to the development of bilateral relations between our countries, Manturov said. "China has ranked first among Russia's trade partners since 2010. Our cooperation includes such areas as aircraft engineering, radio electronics, pharmaceutical and chemical industry, shipbuilding, transport engineering, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy," he noted.

According to Manturov, current contacts with Chinese partners confirm the existence of a huge number of unrealized opportunities to intensify cooperation in a number of areas. "We need to make maximum use of the existing potential, create favorable conditions for increasing the volumes of mutual trade, investments, expand contacts through state, scientific and business circles," Manturov added.

"We expect that the regime of mutual favour for long-term high-tech projects and many decades of friendship will allow us to expand our cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries," Manturov said.

In his turn Miao Wei appreciated the results of last year's meeting of the Russian-Chinese subcommittee on cooperation in the field of industry, which was held in Shanghai. "I am very glad that today we will be able to discuss our concerns and strengthen our strategic cooperation," he added.
