The Ministry of Economic Development expects Russia 2035 economic strategy to appear soon

23 October 2017, Monday

The Economic Development Ministry expects the Russian government to work out a social and economic strategy until 2035 in 2017, Deputy Minister Oleg Fomichyov told reporters on Monday on the sidelines of a forum.

“The law on statistic planning stipulates that the government is to work out a long-term social and economic development strategy this year. We expect the document to describe development until 2035, and that the government works out the strategy until the end of this year,” he said.

“It is difficult to say when the strategy will be approved, as we are to discuss the issue with the presidential administration and we are to take the position of the administration into account.”

The strategy will be short and contain “about 40–50 pages.” It will focus on strategic issues and on long-term priorities rather than on the current problems and tactical solutions, he added.
