On Wednesday, The state Duma adopted in the second reading a law to raise the minimum wage to a living wage.

The bill proposes to set the minimum wage from 1 January 2018 in the amount of 9489 rubles per month, which will be 85% of the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population for II quarter of 2017.

Starting from 2019, the minimum wage is proposed to be set at the minimum subsistence level of the employable population in the whole of the Russian Federation for the II quarter of the previous year
