Decrease of legal sales of alcohol products observed in Tatarstan

2 July 2013, Tuesday
On July 2 at a briefing on illegal sales of alcohol products, Head of State Inspection on control of production, turnover, and quality of ethanol, alcohol products and protection of customer’s rights Igor Marchenko informed that the volume of legal sales of alcohol products in Tatarstan had decreased.

Among main reasons of this situation Igor Marchenko pointed out a considerable rise in minimum prices for vodka – from 125 to 170 rubles for 0,5 litres. However, the increase in prices did not cause less alcohol consumption.

Igor Marchenko also spoke about the import of smuggled products from Kazakhstan.

According to statistics, 90 cases of illegal sales of alcohol products were revealed in 2011, in 2012 – 179, and in the first half-year of 2013 - 87 cases.

Lately, cases of retail trade of alcohol products from Kazakhstan via Aznakaevsky, Bavlinsky, and Yutazinsky regions by lower prices have been revealed.
