Address of Acting Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of 70th anniversary of Victory in WWII

8 May 2015, Friday
Dear front-line soldiers and workers of the home front!
Dear citizens of Tatarstan!

On behalf of Tatarstan State Council, Government, and personally I congratulate you on the 70th anniversary of Victory in WWII!

The unforgettable day of the 9th of May, 1945 went down in history of our Motherland and mankind as the symbol of unprecedented courage, heroic feat, unconquerable unity and unbreakable triumph of the Soviet people over Nazi fascism. This holiday does not have period of limitation and like no other holiday is understood by all citizens of our great country, all people of good will, no matter what age, religion or nationality.

The Victory Day embodies the joy of military and labour deeds, the grief of irreplaceable losses, and hope for happy and peaceful future. Altogether we overcame all toils of war, stood out and won, planting the Red Victory Banner over prostrated Reichstag. Our people went through seeped in glory way from the hero city of Moscow to Berlin and Manchuria.

We were fighting against destructive fascist machine, with its unhuman creators. Today, when some countries start questioning results of that war and rehabilitating Hitler satellites, we are united in our will to protect conquests of the heroic military generation.

We paid a big price for the great Victory. Today all cities, families, villages are recalling the victims of that horrible war. Due to efforts of search, youth and veteran organizations, names of the fallen are found and the historical truth about tragic events of those years is revealed.

A bright evidence of unbreakable bond of generations is active participation of Tatarstan citizens in All-Russia campaign “Immortal regiment” and other events dedicated to Victory Day.
