Russia is able to feed itself

Russia is able to feed itself. This was stated by Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev at the plenary session "Food safety of Russia in the new economy" in the I National Forum of Food Safety. Dmitry Medvedev also noted that the results of the policy of import substitution now quite acceptable. According to him, food imports declined for five months by a third, with exports of agricultural and food products increased by 40%.
