The next Group meeting is to be held in Kazan from May 25 to 28 this year. Ildar Khalikov noted that Tatarstan capital will host this event for the second time. The first one took place in August 2006.
"It is expected that this year representatives from 30 Muslim countries, as well as 19 experts from Russia will come in Kazan. The planned events are aimed at creating foreign Group members’ objective opinion about Russia, its multicultural society, showing best practices of Tatarstan in the development of interreligious and intercultural relations,” Khalikov said.
Khalikov added that visiting the ancient city of Bolgar and getting acquainted with the Bolgar Islamic Academy project is an important part of the programme.
