Rustam Minnikhanov: We are interested in attracting South Korean business and capital to Tatarstan

On June 20, speaking at an opening of the Korea-Tatarstan business forum Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said: “We are interested in attracting South Korean business and capital to our republic, will be glad to expand mutually beneficial ties and ready to provide overall support.”  

The forum was held in Seoul in the conference hall of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) within the framework he working visit of Minnikhanov to the Republic of Korea (June 19-20, 2016).

Deputy Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Mr. Jung Gwan Kim welcomed participants of the forum.

Welcoming representatives of the South Korean business interested in the development of relations with Tatarstan, Minnikhanov expressed gratitude to the leadership of Russia and the Republic of Korea for their support of joint projects.

"We expect that during this visit Tatarstan and Korean businesses will open up new areas for cooperation, agree on joint projects," he said.

"Tatarstan and South Korea have already had a successful experience of cooperation. We are working in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining, Tatarstan petrochemical products and helicopters made in Kazan are delivered to your country, medical institutions of our republic are using South Korean equipment, ties in the field of information and communication are being developed, " he said.

Tatarstan President reminded that the "Hyundai" company was a partner of the World Summer Universiade-2013 in Kazan. "South Korean famous brands such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai, KIA, Daewoo are very popular in the republic,” he said.

Minnikhanov said that he is sure that there is great potential for the development of relations with South Korean companies, in particular, in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, mechanical engineering, machine-building and automotive components, IT and other high-tech solutions, construction and infrastructure projects, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other areas.

Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina told about the investment potential of the republic. She, in particular, informed representatives of the South Korean businesses that Tatarstan ranked first in the national ranking of the state of the investment climate in Russian regions.
